Morgane Metraux, a Swiss golfer ranked No. 137 in the world, made a remarkable start at the Paris 2024 Olympics by shooting an 8-under 28 on the front nine, setting an Olympic record. Although she faced a slow-play situation and received a bad time on the 13th hole, she managed to finish with a 6-under 66 to take the lead at the clubhouse. Metraux, who is making her Olympics debut, attributed her strong performance to the perfect conditions and course conditions.

Despite the distraction of the slow-play situation, Metraux remained focused and capitalized on the ideal playing conditions. Her front nine included two eagles on par 5s and four additional birdies, showcasing her exceptional skills on the golf course. Metraux’s previous best nine holes on the LPGA was a front-nine 30 at a previous championship, highlighting her prowess as a golfer.

Morgane Metraux’s older sister Kim also plays golf on the LET and represented Switzerland at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Morgane gave up her spot in the Olympics to focus on the Epson Tour, allowing her sister to compete in her place. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 restrictions at the Tokyo Games, Kim had a positive experience and returned with a newfound appreciation for the opportunity.

As a rookie on the LPGA in 2022, Metraux achieved her best finish at the 2022 Pelican Championship where she tied for fourth place. She is a two-time winner on the LET, with her most recent victory at the 2024 Jabra Ladies Open. The Metraux family hails from Lausanne, located on Lake Geneva, across from the Evian Resort Golf Club, which hosts the Amundi Evian Championship.

Overall, Morgane Metraux’s impressive performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics highlights her talent and potential as a golfer on the international stage. Despite facing challenges on the course, she maintained her focus and delivered a strong finish, showcasing her ability to thrive under pressure. With a supportive family and a track record of success in professional golf, Metraux is poised for continued success in her career.
