Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is leading the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by The R&A with a one-stroke lead after an impressive ten under par round of 62 on moving day. The Dane managed to fire ten birdies without a single blemish, bringing his total score to 22 under par for the week at Club de Golf Alcanada. He is ahead of overnight leader Angel Ayora from Spain by one stroke and is seeking his fourth victory of the season to become the second Danish winner of the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final after Marcus Helligkilde in 2021.

Neergaard-Petersen started the day five shots behind the lead but quickly closed the gap by carding three birdies in his opening five holes. He continued his strong performance on the back nine, taking the outright lead for the first time in Mallorca with birdies at the tenth and 11th holes. He secured his place at the top with three consecutive birdies from the 13th hole onwards, finishing with another birdie on the 18th hole. Neergaard-Petersen is now projected to climb to the top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings and potentially become the Challenge Tour Number One, following in the footsteps of Danish players like Helligkilde, Joachim B Hansen, and Thomas Bjørn.

Despite Neergaard-Petersen’s strong performance, Angel Ayora remains in contention for a second win of the season. The 20-year-old mixed birdies and bogeys on the front nine but finished strong with four birdies on the back nine, ending the day one stroke behind the leader. Ayora would need to win the Rolex Grand Final and rely on Neergaard-Petersen finishing no higher than third to top the Rankings and become the youngest Challenge Tour Number One in history. Kristoffer Reitan from Norway is also in the mix, sitting three shots behind the leader in third place.

The final round of the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final is set to be an exciting battle between Neergaard-Petersen, Ayora, and the rest of the contenders. The round will begin at 8:00 am local time, with Neergaard-Petersen and Ayora teeing off at 12:05 pm. Players like Reitan, Oliver Lindell, Robin Sciot-Siegrist, Ben Schmidt, Hamish Brown, and Nicolai Kristensen are also in the running for top spots and potential promotion to the DP World Tour. Fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the tournament as players fight for victory and a chance to make history in the Challenge Tour.
