Nick Dunlap, a 20-year-old golfer, has had a whirlwind year in 2024. He should be a junior at the University of Alabama, but instead, he is a two-time PGA Tour winner, a favorite for the Arnold Palmer Award for Rookie of the Year, and received a sponsor exemption to play in the 20-man field at the Hero World Challenge. Winning The American Express in January as an amateur was a turning point in Dunlap’s career, prompting him to turn pro and secure his first win as a professional at the Barracuda Championship.

Despite his rapid rise in the golf world, Dunlap remains humble and grateful for the opportunities he has been given. He acknowledges the steep learning curve that comes with competing against the best players in the world on a weekly basis. Dunlap’s stay in the Bahamas for the Hero World Challenge includes lodging with fellow Alabama alum Justin Thomas, who has offered guidance and advice based on his own experiences as a young prodigy on the PGA Tour.

Dunlap shares a unique connection with tournament host Tiger Woods, as they are the only two players to have won both the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur. While Dunlap hasn’t sought out advice from Woods directly, he has learned valuable lessons from watching and playing with other Tour pros, such as Will Zalatoris. Observing how Zalatoris meticulously prepared for tournaments has inspired Dunlap to adopt a more strategic approach in his own practice rounds.

As Dunlap continues to acclimate to the demands of professional golf, he recognizes the importance of consistency and resilience on the course. He aims to improve his game by learning how to turn subpar performances into respectable finishes, a skill that he believes will contribute to his longevity and success on Tour. With each tournament, Dunlap gains more confidence in his abilities and looks forward to the challenge of competing at the highest level.

As a rising star in the golf world, Dunlap’s potential appears limitless. With a focus on refining his skills and adapting to the rigors of the PGA Tour, he is poised to make a lasting impact in the sport. Dunlap’s journey from college standout to Tour professional serves as an inspiration to aspiring young golfers and a testament to the rewards of dedication and hard work in pursuit of a dream. Stay tuned for more exciting performances from Nick Dunlap as he continues to make his mark on the PGA Tour.
