Patton Kizzire won the Procore Championship at Silverado Resort’s North Course, his first victory since 2018 and third career PGA Tour title. The 38-year-old golfer worked hard to come back and play well, closing with a 2-under 70 to finish at 20-under 268 and secure a five-stroke win over David Lipsky. Kizzire lost his full-exempt status at the end of the previous season and was emotional about being back on the Tour, as playing golf professionally was always his dream.

Despite struggles in the regular season, with only two top-10 finishes, Kizzire continued to push forward. After missing the cut in his last two starts and facing six consecutive missed cuts earlier in the year, he took a break and decided to work on the mental and physical aspects of his game. Working with a new sports psychologist who introduced unconventional methods such as hugging trees, walking barefoot, and looking at flowers, Kizzire found a new perspective on his game.

The unconventional methods seemed to have worked as Kizzire opened the tournament with a 66, hugged a tree before making a birdie, and remained patient throughout the rounds. He carded six birdies on the back nine during the second round, followed by a solid 67 in the third round to maintain his lead. Despite some challenges during the final round, including making bogeys at Nos. 9 and 11, Kizzire bounced back with birdies and ultimately secured the victory.

Kizzire’s mental coach helped him focus on the power of positive thinking and staying unflappable on the course. By embracing a playful attitude and staying organized, Kizzire was able to reset his mindset and improve his performance. His dominant putting throughout the week, gaining nearly nine strokes on the greens, was a key factor in his success. These adjustments and a shift in perspective helped Kizzire find success and win the Procore Championship.

Finishing behind Kizzire were Patrick Fishburn in third place, Ben Silverman tied for fourth with Mackenzie Hughes, and David Lipsky in second place. Kizzire’s victory marked a significant milestone in his career and showcased the importance of mental strength and positive thinking in golf. With a newfound focus on staying organized, being playful, and remaining unflappable on the course, Kizzire was able to overcome challenges and emerge victorious in the tournament.
