PGA of America announces Keegan Bradley as captain for 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup

The PGA of America recently announced that Keegan Bradley, the winner of the 2011 PGA Championship, will be leading the U.S. team as captain at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Bradley, who has six PGA Tour wins and has previously played on two Ryder Cup teams, expressed his excitement and honor at being named captain for this prestigious event. Despite being snubbed as a player for the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, Bradley’s passion and appreciation for the event have never wavered, and he is eager to begin preparations for the 2025 competition.

The 2025 Ryder Cup will take place from September 26-28 at Bethpage Black, with Luke Donald serving as the European captain. At 38 years old, Bradley’s selection as captain represents a shift from the trend of selecting older captains in recent decades. However, Bradley’s current standing on the U.S. points list for this year’s Presidents Cup team and his past success on the PGA Tour make him a strong choice to lead the U.S. team at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

PGA President John Lindert expressed his pride and excitement in naming Bradley as the captain of the 2025 United States Ryder Cup team, citing Bradley’s past Ryder Cup experience and passion for the event as valuable assets. Despite initially planning to announce the captain on Tuesday, the PGA of America made the announcement on Monday, highlighting their confidence in Bradley’s ability to lead the U.S. team to success at Bethpage.

Keegan Bradley’s selection as captain comes after Tiger Woods declined the offer due to his busy schedule and focus on his recovery from injuries. Woods has taken on roles with the PGA Tour and the new PGA Tour Enterprises, shifting his focus away from captaincy in 2025. As Bradley begins preparations for the 2025 Ryder Cup, he will draw on his experience and relationships within the golfing world to guide the U.S. team with confidence and determination.

Overall, the selection of Keegan Bradley as the U.S. captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup signifies a new era in captaincy, with a younger and active PGA Tour player taking the helm. Bradley’s passion, experience, and past success in the Ryder Cup make him a strong choice to lead the U.S. team at Bethpage Black, and fans can look forward to an exciting competition under his leadership.
