The final 36-hole cut of the 2024 PGA Tour season at the RSM Classic held at Sea Island Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia, was a challenging test for golfers, with fierce winds and temperatures in the 50s. Players on the Plantation Course had an advantage over those on the Seaside Course, with lower scoring averages at the Plantation. 66 players managed to shoot 1-under 141 or better to make it to the weekend and keep their hopes alive for winning the tournament or improving their standing in the FedEx Cup Fall points list.

One notable player who barely made the cut was Joel Dahmen, who entered the week at No. 126 on the points list. He shot 2-under 68 at Seaside to make the cut on the number. While he is still projected at No. 127, he has two more rounds to climb up the leaderboard and secure a better position in the rankings. However, there were also players like Zach Johnson who failed to make the cut for the third consecutive season, finishing outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup.

Sepp Straka, a top 50 player, had a chance to make the cut but fell short with two bogeys and a lack of birdies in the second round. Gary Woodland battled back with a 68 in the second round but struggled with his driver in the first round, ultimately missing the cut. Wesley Bryan entered the week at No. 125 and saw his chances end with a double bogey on the 14th hole in the second round. Zac Blair also missed the cut, dropping to No. 125 in the rankings.

Rafael Campos, coming off a recent victory at the Bermuda Championship, missed the cut at the RSM Classic but secured his status for the next two years. Keith Mitchell had a strong start but faltered in the second round with two doubles, missing the cut. Justin Lower, who had been performing well in recent tournaments, missed the cut at the RSM Classic, ending his streak. Matt Kuchar, a former member of the Sea Island Mafia, also missed the cut at the tournament.

Matt McCarty, who won his first Tour title earlier in the fall season, missed the cut at the RSM Classic after struggling at the Plantation Course. Despite the challenges faced by these players, the tournament showcased the competitive nature of the PGA Tour and the importance of consistent performance to maintain a position in the top 125 of the FedEx Cup standings. With the season coming to a close, players will have to regroup and prepare for the upcoming challenges in the next season.
