The 152nd edition of The Open Championship is set to take place at the Royal Troon golf course in Scotland, where 158 of the world’s top golfers will compete. The course presents a variety of challenges, from wind-swept hills to cavernous bunkers, and the notorious Par-3, 128-yard “Postage Stamp” eighth hole. Despite these challenges, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite to win the final major of 2024, with odds of +450 on golf betting sites. Other top contenders include Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, and Bryson DeChambeau.

According to Bookies.com handicapper Adam Thompson, Xander Schauffele is a top pick for a Top 10 finish at Royal Troon due to his strong performance in Greens In Regulation, Scrambling, and Strokes Gained: Approach. Schauffele has shown consistency with 11 Top 10 finishes in 16 tournaments this season, making him a strong contender for another Top 10 finish at The Open Championship.

Ludvig Aberg, although relatively new to the scene, has shown promise with seven Top 10 finishes in 15 starts, including four Top 5 finishes. Aberg’s aggressive playing style and inspiration from fellow Swede Henrik Stenson could make him a strong contender for a Top 5 finish at Royal Troon.

For those looking for a safer bet, Alex Noren is a solid choice for a Top 20 finish at the Open Championship. Noren excels at getting out of trouble on the course and has shown consistency in his approach and putting. With a Top 10 finish at the Scottish Open last week, Noren has demonstrated his ability to perform at a high level.

Louis Oosthuizen, known for his steady play, is another good choice for a Top 20 finish at the Open Championship. Oosthuizen ranks highly in Scrambling, fairways hit, and putting on the LIV Tour, making him a reliable pick to hang around the leaderboard throughout the tournament.

Aaron Rai is a dark horse pick for a Top 20 finish at the Open Championship, with back-to-back-to-back Top 7 finishes on the tour. Rai’s strong performance in scrambling, Greens In Regulation, and Strokes Gained: Approach make him a compelling choice at favorable odds on online sportsbooks. Overall, a diverse range of contenders are vying for success at Royal Troon, making for an exciting and unpredictable tournament.
