As summer comes to an end and the calendar flips to September, college golf is in full swing. Teams are gearing up for the chase to win the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, which will be held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, next spring. Last year, Auburn made history by capturing its first national championship, defeating Florida State in the match-play final. With key players returning, including reigning Player of the Year Jackson Koivun, the Tigers are once again positioned as one of the top teams heading into the new season.

Arizona State, after a disappointing finish last season, looks to rebound with U.S. Amateur champion Josele Ballester and PGA Tour University’s top player Preston Summerhays leading the charge. Vanderbilt, led by 2022 NCAA individual champion Gordon Sargent, is another team to watch this year despite the loss of some depth. Virginia boasts a strong, experienced lineup with Phil Mickelson Award winner Ben James at the forefront, making them a contender for match play in the upcoming season.

Florida State, who made it to the national championship match last spring, will rely heavily on World No. 1 amateur Luke Clanton to lead them back to prominence. Tennessee, despite the departure of key player Caleb Surratt, is expected to excel this season with incoming freshman Jackson Herrington making waves in the collegiate golf scene. Texas, a former national champion, aims to return to the spotlight with a talented squad led by Tommy Morrison and Luke Potter.

Illinois, the 2023 national champions, bring back a wealth of experience and talent, including standout player Jackson Buchanan, setting the stage for another successful season. North Carolina looks to rebuild its lineup with the return of the Ford brothers and the addition of Texas transfer Keaton Vo. Meanwhile, the remaining teams in the top 30 rankings, including Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Texas Tech, are also primed for strong showings in the upcoming season.

As the college golf season kicks off, fans can expect intense competition, standout performances from top players, and exciting matchups on the road to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. With perennial powerhouses like Auburn, Arizona State, and Virginia leading the way, the race for the national title promises to be a thrilling one filled with twists and turns. Stay tuned for updates, highlights, and analysis as the season unfolds, showcasing the best of collegiate golf talent in pursuit of ultimate glory.
