The 2024 BMW PGA Championship came to a thrilling conclusion with Billy Horschel securing victory over Rory McIlroy in a playoff at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England. Horschel clinched the title with an eagle on the par-5 18th hole, edging out McIlroy, whose eagle attempt narrowly missed. The win earned Horschel a hefty paycheck of $1.53 million out of the $9 million purse.

The prize money payouts for every golfer at the BMW PGA Championship varied depending on their final position in the tournament. Thriston Lawrence and Rory McIlroy tied for second place alongside Horschel, each taking home $778,500. The top ten finishers received significant payouts, with Aaron Rai, Matthew Baldwin, and Matteo Manassero tied for fourth place and earning $382,200 each.

Niklas Norgaard, Ugo Coussaud, and Antoine Rozner tied for seventh place, securing $232,200 each. Tom McKibbin and Marcus Armitage shared tenth place and received $172,800 each. The remaining participants in the tournament also earned varying amounts based on their performance, with players like Matt Wallace, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, Padraig Harrington, Eddie Pepperell, and Robert MacIntyre splitting $136,650 for finishing tied in twelfth place.

The prize money continued to decrease as players finished down the leaderboard, with Byeong Hun An, Adrian Otaegui, Jordan Smith, Daniel Hillier, Ewen Ferguson, Andy Sullivan, Marcus Kinhult, Darius Van Driel, Jeff Winther, Si Woo Kim, Yannik Paul, and Harry Hall splitting $98,175 for finishing tied in eighteenth place. The payouts gradually decreased for players in the remaining positions, with the lowest earning player walking away with $21,600 for finishing in sixty-fifth place.

Overall, the 2024 BMW PGA Championship was a fiercely competitive tournament with notable players battling it out for a chance at the title and a share of the generous prize money. With Horschel ultimately emerging victorious, it was a testament to his skill and determination on the course. The event showcased the talent and excitement of professional golf at the highest level, captivating fans and players alike with its thrilling conclusion.
