Review of the Odyssey Square Jailbird Putter Version 2

Odyssey is known for producing top-quality putters, with their Jailbird model gaining popularity thanks to the success of players like Wyndham Clark, Rickie Fowler, and Keegan Bradley. The launch of the Odyssey Square 2 Square range introduces a stroke balanced collection of putters designed to minimize face rotation for even more stability. This new design aims to help golfers start the ball on their intended line more often, joining other innovative designs in the putter market like the L.A.B. Golf DF3 and the PXG Allan putter.

The Odyssey Square 2 Square Jailbird putter features a modern center-shafted design that minimizes face rotation, providing a unique approach to the principle of stroke balance. The Versa-style coloring and visually contrasting black and white blocks on the putter make it easy to set up at address, aiding in alignment for more accurate putting. The center shaft position of the putter encourages a forward press and reverse torque position, promoting a square face relative to the path of the stroke.

The putter includes advanced technology found in the Ai-One putter range, such as a computer-powered White Hot insert with variable face thickness for consistent ball speeds. Testers found that the putter helped improve confidence on the greens, with easy alignment features and automatic square returns at impact. The Odyssey Square 2 Square Jailbird is one of three models available, including the #7 and Double Wide, offering golfers a variety of head options to suit their preferences.

All Odyssey Square 2 Square putters come with a slightly larger oversize grip for improved feel and stability in the hands. The Stroke Lab steel shaft ensures perfect balance in conjunction with the head and grip, enhancing overall performance and control. The Square 2 Square putters are priced at $299/£289, offering great value compared to other putters in the emerging category of stroke balanced designs. If you struggle with distance control or starting the ball on line from shorter range, the Odyssey Square 2 Square Jailbird putter could be a valuable addition to your bag.

It’s too far for a chip, but not far enough for a full swing. This "in-between" distance often leads to hesitation, causing players to
