Review of the PXG Bat Attack ZT Putter

The PXG Bat Attack ZT Putter: A Game Changer

When you think about golf, the right gear can make or break your game. Enter the PXG Bat Attack ZT putter. This bad boy brings some serious technology to the green, specifically its zero torque design, ensuring you’re lined up perfectly every time. Trust me, this putter could become your new best friend on the course.

Quick Overview

In a nutshell, the PXG Bat Attack ZT combines zero torque tech with a classic fang head shape. The S-Hosel design not only enhances aesthetics but also provides a traditional look at address. You can expect a soft feel paired with incredible forgiveness—that’s a double win right there.

Introduction to the Bat Attack ZT

So, what’s all the buzz about? PXG’s diving deeper into the zero torque movement, and after the success of their first model, the Allan, they’ve brought back the fan-favorite Bat Attack design with a twist. It’s time to find out if this putter can secure a coveted spot in your bag.

Style Points: How It Looks

Let’s talk looks. The PXG Bat Attack ZT has a striking resemblance to its predecessor, the Battle Ready Bat Attack. Those stout, angular wings give it a fierce presence. At address, the wings are designed to frame the ball perfectly, which is exactly what you want in a putter. Plus, there’s a white sight line that helps keep your focus where it needs to be.

Now, about that S-Hosel: it might seem a bit unconventional (trust me, it’s a little further back than usual), but it looks right at home on this mallet-style putter. If you’ve shied away from zero torque models for their unique look, this one might just change your mind.

Sound & Feel: The Experience

Feel is everything in a putter, and the Bat Attack ZT doesn’t disappoint. Featuring a Pyramid Face Pattern and a ridiculously thin face, it creates an impact that’s both soft and solid. And let’s not forget the sound—think of a gentle mid-pitched “tock.” The feedback is superb, giving you an idea of how you hit it. Hitting it dead center feels great, while a mishit is still manageable, meaning you won’t feel like you’re sending a shockwave through your hands.

Performance Matters

How does it actually perform on the green? That’s the real question, right? The S-Hosel does its job, keeping the face square to your target without needing extra manipulation. I tried using my “no thumbs” technique, and boom—putts started rolling exactly where I wanted them. Your focus should really be on reading the line and speed, which the Bat Attack ZT simplifies for you.

Now, here’s a surprise: the S-Hosel actually introduces a slight forward press of about 2°. You won’t even notice it, thanks to the grip, which feels super natural in your hand, promoting a solid roll.

The Grip: A Game Changer

Speaking of the grip, let’s take a moment for the PXG Slant 1.5 R grip. This is one of the best zero torque grip designs I’ve ever used. It’s rectangular with a slight taper, filling the top of your left hand perfectly. With zero torque putters, you want to minimize thumb pressure, and this grip helps achieve that sweet spot while keeping a firm hold on the club.

Forgiveness Like No Other

One thing I really appreciated about the PXG Bat Attack ZT is its stability. Thanks to the S COR polymer, which fills 31% of the internal volume, a lot of weight is pushed to the edges, making it incredibly forgiving. It may not outdo the tungsten-packed Battle Ready Bat Attack, but it definitely keeps mishits closer to the hole than you’d expect. You’d have to hit it pretty poorly to miss the cup from close range.

Customizable Weights for Your Style

Let’s not forget about customization. The Bat Attack ZT comes with two removable weights, allowing you to tweak swing weight according to your preferences. The stock head weight is 375 grams, which surprised me since I expected it to feel lighter. Regardless, with adjustable weights from 360 grams to 395 grams, you can definitely find what works best for your style. I found that the stock weight allowed me to make confident, aggressive strokes without feeling out of control.

Wrapping It Up

In short, if you’ve been curious about trying a zero torque putter but have been hesitant due to looks or technique, the PXG Bat Attack ZT is your perfect entry point. With its fang-head design delivering impressive forgiveness and that proprietary S-Hosel keeping everything square, this putter could change the way you think about putting. Seriously though, give it a try—you might just find your new favorite club.
