Scotty Cameron is a renowned brand known for creating some of the most sought-after putters in the world of golf. The iconic Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter, famously used by Tiger Woods, has solidified the brand’s reputation as a master craftsman from California. The success of Woods with this model has elevated the Newport putter as one of the best-designed putters by Scotty Cameron.

Recently, the brand has introduced a new line of putters under the Long Design series, including the Phantom 11 mallet putter tested in this review. The Phantom 11 boasts a longer shaft, measuring at 38 inches, and a counterbalanced design aimed at enhancing stability during the putting stroke. The larger size of the putter head and the addition of 25g weights on the sole contribute to increased MOI and forgiveness.

The Long Design Phantom 11 putter is crafted from soft 303 stainless steel, providing a familiar feel for those accustomed to Scotty Cameron putters. The 17-inch grip offers a comfortable hold, reducing wrist activity during the stroke and encouraging a more controlled movement from the shoulders. While the added length may require some adjustment for players used to traditional putters, the benefits of improved stability and alignment aid can lead to more successful putts from short distances.

During testing, the reviewer noted a significant improvement in holed putts from within 10 feet with the Long Design Phantom 11 putter. The large arrow-style alignment aid on the top of the putter helped with aim and alignment, especially for players struggling in this area. The unique sight lines design resonated well with the reviewer’s eyes, leading to better accuracy and consistency on the greens.

While the Long Design Phantom 11 putter excels in improving putting performance from close range, players may need time to adapt to the increased length and weight distribution. Some players may find distance and speed control challenging initially, but with practice, these aspects can be honed for better overall performance. For those seeking a change in fortunes on the greens and looking for a reliable alternative method, the Scotty Cameron Long Design series, including the Phantom 11 putter, offers a compelling option.
