Robert Rock secures spot in Open Final Qualifying as he aims for a start in the next major tournament

Regional qualifying for the 152nd Open at Royal Troon recently took place at 15 UK venues, with 100 spots in the final qualifying round up for grabs. Some notable names who made it through include two-time DP World Tour winner Robert Rock, who retired from professional golf 18 months earlier but impressed at the US Open and now has another chance to qualify for a Major. Other familiar names who advanced to final qualifying include Challenge Tour professional Jack Floydd, Englishman Sam Forgan, and Jonathan Thomson, who finished T53 at the 2021 Open.

South African former World No.42 Justin Harding also secured a spot at final qualifying, hoping for his sixth appearance at The Open. However, some notable names did not perform as well, such as YouTube star Rick Shiels, Peter Finch, and Matt Fryer. Irishman Paul Dunne, who played in the 2014 and 2015 Open, narrowly missed out on final qualifying. Final qualifying will take place on 2 July at various UK venues, including Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports, and West Lancashire, where big names like Sergio Garcia are expected to compete for a minimum of 16 spots in the Major.
