Rory McIlroy has been invited to parade his Masters trophy at Old Trafford after the Manchester United fan completed golf’s career Grand Slam on Sunday.
The Northern Irishman became only the sixth man to complete the set of golf’s four majors after a nerve-wracking final day at Augusta.
McIlroy overcame Justin Rose in a play-off to secure the fifth major of his career, ending an 11-year drought in the process.
The 35-year-old, who has been vocal in his support of Man United, will now be afforded the chance to don his green jacket and parade his trophy at Old Trafford.
Man United boss Ruben Amorim sent a video message to McIlroy praised the star for achieving ‘something a lot of people thought would be impossible.’

Amorim said McIlroy ‘achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible’
‘Congratulations for The Masters and I want to invite you to Old Trafford to show your trophy.
‘It is really important to us in this moment. You achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible and we want that feeling in our stadium.
‘So, I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford and to meet you.’
Amorim’s message comes as he attempts to turn around the club’s fortunes, with the Portuguese coach having continually repeated how a Premier League title is the key aim at the club despite their current struggles.
The Red Devils are currently 14th in the Premier League table having sustained 14 defeats in 32 league matches this season.
Man United can still salvage their season in the Europa League, with their quarter-final against Lyon level at 2-2 ahead of the second leg on Thursday night.
McIlroy, who once revealed a desire to invest in Man United, referenced the club’s current struggles when asked if he wanted an invite to Old Trafford following his Masters success.
‘If it can inspire some better play, absolutely,’ McIlroy replied.

McIlroy has previously paraded a trophy at Old Trafford before, having posed with the Claret Jug, after winning The Open, before a home game against Swansea in August 2014.
Man United have just three home matches remaining in the Premier League this season if McIlroy is to parade his trophy.
The Red Devils host Wolves on Sunday, before welcoming West Ham on May 10 and Aston Villa on the final day of the season on May 25.
McIlroy, however, is scheduled to play the Zurich Classic in New Orleans from April 24 to 27.
He will chase further success at the majors at the PGA Championship, which will begin at Quail Hollow Club, North Carolina on 15 May.
Should Man United progress in the Europa League on Thursday, it would open up the possibility of McIlroy visiting Old Trafford for the semi-final.
Semi-final matches in the competition are scheduled to take place on May 1 and 8.
McIlroy would not alone in being a sporting star to be a guest of Man United this season following success, with Luke Littler having paraded the PDC World Championship trophy in January.
