Saudi to host LIV Golf Promotions tournament

LIV Golf Promotions is set to take place at Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia from December 12-14, offering a direct path to the main LIV Golf League and a chance to win a share of the $1.5 million prize fund. Last year, the top three players from the event earned spots in the League, with the winner guaranteed a spot in the 2025 season. This year, only the winner will secure a spot, allowing teams more flexibility during free agency.

The tournament consists of four rounds of stroke play over three days, with 36 holes played on the final day. The top 20 players and ties after the first round will advance to the second day, where additional pre-qualified players will join and scores will be reset. After 36 holes, there will be a second cut, with only the top 20 players and ties moving on to the final two rounds, and scores being reset again.

The winner of the LIV Golf Promotions event will earn automatic promotion to the 2025 LIV Golf League, with the top 10 finishers receiving full exemption into all events on the Asian Tour-sanctioned International Series. The tournament also provides an opportunity for up-and-coming players and established competitors to experience global competition and pursue their dreams at the highest level.

Players from around the world, including both professional and amateur golfers, will be eligible to participate in the tournament. Those who were relegated from the 2024 LIV Golf League, as well as those who finished in the Open Zone (25th-48th) and have no team commitment for 2025, will also have the chance to compete for a spot in the League.

Notable players who lost their places in the League after the 2024 season, such as Kalle Samooja, Branden Grace, Scott Vincent, Kieran Vincent, and Bubba Watson, will have the opportunity to win back their spots through the LIV Golf Promotions event. Watson, who was exempt from demotion as a team captain, will now need to secure a top finish in order to regain his spot.

The tournament will be broadcast live on LIV Golf Plus and LIV Golf’s YouTube channel, with coverage on Thursday and Friday from 12-4pm and Saturday from 12.30-5pm (local time). The event promises to offer a competitive and exciting platform for players to showcase their skills and compete for a chance to join the prestigious LIV Golf League.

LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO Greg Norman emphasizes the unique experience that the LIV Golf League offers, with players from all backgrounds coming together to compete on a global stage. LIV Golf Promotions serves as another avenue for players to elevate their game and potentially launch their careers to new heights within the league.

With a substantial prize fund and the opportunity to earn full exemption into international events, the LIV Golf Promotions event in Riyadh is sure to attract top talent from across the globe. As the tournament unfolds, golf enthusiasts can expect to witness intense competition and captivating performances from players vying for a coveted spot in the prestigious LIV Golf League.
