The US PGA Championship, the second major of the year, is set to take place at the Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky from May 16-19. The 156-man field will be headlined by defending champion Brooks Koepka, past winners Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, and world No.1 Scottie Scheffler. Koepka, who recorded his fifth career major last year at Oak Hill, is in good form after winning the LIV event in Singapore. Woods, a 15-time major champion, has won the PGA Championship four times, while McIlroy has triumphed twice in the past.

In addition to the top players, the field will include a total of 154 golfers named by the PGA of America, with two spots reserved for the winners of upcoming events. Taylor Gooch, who won three LIV Golf events in 2023, is one of seven LIV players to have accepted a special invitation to play in the championship. LIV Golf will be represented by 16 players in the field this year, with players like Jon Rahm, Cam Smith, and Tyrrell Hatton joining Koepka.

Various players within the top 100 in the world rankings have also received special invitations to compete, including Patrick Reed, Joaquin Niemann, Talor Gooch, and others. Reed’s recent performance at Augusta National moved him inside the top 100, while Niemann has multiple LIV Golf wins under his belt. However, Louis Oosthuizen declined an invitation to the tournament due to a prior personal commitment. The PGA Championship aims to maintain its reputation for having the strongest field among the four majors.
