The 2024 Solheim Cup got off to an exciting start, with Stacy Lewis’s U.S. squad taking a commanding 6-2 lead after the first eight matches. As the competitors returned to Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia for Day 2, the question on everyone’s mind was whether the American march would continue. The morning foursomes saw each side winning a pair of points, with the Europeans holding serve but not making up any ground.

With four matches of team play left on Saturday before heading into the singles matchups on Sunday, the tension was high among both teams. Nelly Korda, who had a perfect 3-0 record so far, sat out a match on Saturday afternoon for the first time in the week. The afternoon fourballs pairings and tee times were set, with some key matchups to keep an eye on.

The afternoon matches saw Alison Lee and Megan Khang facing off against Anna Nordqvist and Madelene Sagstrom, while Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang took on Linn Grant and Celine Boutier. Ally Ewing and Lexi Thompson faced off against Carlota Ciganda and Emily Pedersen, and Allisen Corpuz and Lilia Vu went up against Charley Hull and Georgia Hall. Both teams made strategic decisions on who to sit out for the afternoon matches.

The Saturday TV coverage for the Solheim Cup went on until 3 p.m. ET on Golf Channel, then switched over to NBC and Peacock from 3 to 6 p.m. ET before returning to Golf Channel at 6 p.m. ET. The U.S. team continued to lead after two sessions, with the score standing at 8-4.

Overall, the 2024 Solheim Cup had provided plenty of excitement and drama for both players and fans alike. With the singles matchups still to come on Sunday, there was still plenty of opportunities for both teams to make their mark on the tournament. As the competition heated up, all eyes were on the players as they battled it out on the course in hopes of securing victory for their team.
