European Solheim Cup captain Suzann Pettersen has announced the final four players who will be joining the team to defend the trophy against Team USA at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Among the wildcard picks is English star Georgia Hall, who narrowly missed out on automatic qualification. Hall, who will be making her fifth appearance at the match, expressed her excitement at representing Europe once again and aiming for another victory.

Another experienced player named as a wildcard is Swedish veteran Anna Nordqvist, who has been a key member of the European Solheim Cup team since 2009. With a record of 15-3-13, Nordqvist will not only be playing in her ninth Solheim Cup but also serving as a vice-captain for the second consecutive contest. She expressed her honor at being selected and fulfilling a childhood dream of representing Europe in the prestigious event.

The third wildcard pick is Danish player Emily Kristine Pedersen, who had a strong performance in the 2023 match and will be making her fourth Solheim Cup appearance. With a record of 5-6-1, Pedersen is excited to once again play for Europe and is looking forward to the challenge of competing on American soil. Swiss player Albane Valenzuela completes the 12-player team, making her Solheim Cup debut. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and excitement at fulfilling a childhood dream of being part of the team.

Pettersen highlighted the strengths of each wildcard pick, noting Hall’s past experience and passion for the event, Nordqvist’s impressive record and experience, Pedersen’s passion for team golf and past experiences, and Valenzuela’s solid golf performance and positive energy. The team consists of a mix of experienced players and newcomers, bringing a variety of skills and strengths to the competition.

The Solheim Cup will take place between 13 and 15 September, with Team USA captain Stacy Lewis set to name her three wildcards on August 27. The European team includes a combination of players who qualified through points and those selected as wildcards, creating a strong and competitive lineup. Fans can look forward to an exciting event as Europe aims to defend their title against the US team.
