Other notable performances came from St. John Neumann’s Grant Noren, who shot a 2-over 72 to finish seventh overall. Community School’s Luca Musico tied for 11th with a score of 74, while several athletes, including Adrian Banham, Caden Kellum, and Blake Pecro, all tied for 15th at 75. Bishop Verot shone as the top local team, finishing third with a score of 305, just behind region champions St. Stephen’s Episcopal.

Girls Golf Competition

In the Class 3A-Region 3 tournament, the focus shifted to the girls, where Ida Baker was the only local school to qualify a team. The team managed to secure a 12th place finish at Heritage Harbor Golf & Country Club in Lutz, with the championship title claimed by Parrish, who outperformed George Steinbrenner by nine strokes.

Highlighting individual achievements, Palmetto Ridge’s junior Chloe Walsh emerged as the top local finisher, shooting a score of 102 to tie for 52nd place. Despite challenges throughout the season, her performance remained a beacon of talent and potential for her school.

High School Soccer Highlights

As the soccer season heats up, North Fort Myers Girls Soccer displayed a remarkable performance against Lehigh, dominating the match with a score of 9-0. Hannah Busenbark contributed significantly to the win with an impressive tally of 3 goals and 2 assists, while Laila Bathey made her mark by scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.

Emerging Young Talent

The match showcased the emerging talents of several players as well, with Eliana Toro netting her first high school points, scoring 2 goals and 3 assists, while Kaitlyn Heuglin and Rosalyn Lopez each added their contributions. Teams like Fort Myers High and Cape Coral have been practicing diligently to refine their techniques and enhance their performances, aiming to make waves in the district swimming meets.

Cross Country Championships

In addition to golf and soccer, cross-country running continues to capture attention across local schools. Athletes have been working hard to improve their times, with many setting personal bests during meets leading up to the regional championships.

Isabella Reyes from Estero High stood out during a recent competition, finishing in the top 10 with a remarkable time that positions her as a strong contender for the upcoming championship. With each runner putting forth their best effort, the excitement surrounding cross-country is palpable.
