Amy Yang, a professional golfer with 18 years of experience, claimed her first major victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship by winning by three shots at Sahalee Country Club. This victory was her sixth LPGA win and came after 11 years since her first win in 2013. The 34-year-old earned a significant sum of $1.56 million from the $10.4 million purse, with Jin Young Ko, Lilia Vu, and Miyu Yamashita tying for second place.

Despite a three-shot victory, Yang had a commanding lead throughout the tournament, with a six-shot advantage at one point. However, she stumbled on the 16th and 17th holes with bogey and double bogey, respectively, but managed to seal the win with a final round of 72, finishing at seven-under-par 281. Notably, World No. 1 Nelly Korda struggled in the tournament, missing the cut after a disastrous second round with nine bogeys and a double bogey.

The tournament also saw other top players making their mark, with each player who made the cut earning significant prize money. Apart from Yang’s impressive payday of $1.56 million for the win, players like Jin Young Ko, Lilia Vu, and Miyu Yamashita earned $702,478 each for their tied second-place finish. Other top earners from the tournament included Ally Ewing, Lauren Hartlage, Mao Saigo, and Hinako Shibuno, among others.

The rest of the players who made the cut also earned substantial amounts based on their performance, with prize money decreasing as the leaderboard rankings dropped. Players like Lexi Thompson, Brooke Henderson, Minjee Lee, Lydia Ko, and more received payouts ranging from $192,045 to $37,675. Even the players who finished further down the leaderboard, like Yuka Saso, Frida Kinhult, and Morgane Metraux, received prize money for their efforts in the championship.

In summary, Amy Yang’s victory at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was a significant milestone in her career, marking her first major win and adding to her impressive LPGA record. The tournament showcased the talent and competitiveness of the top female golfers, with players earning substantial prize money based on their performance. Overall, the championship was a thrilling event that highlighted the skill and dedication of these athletes in the world of women’s golf.
