The PGA Tour is heading across the pond for the Genesis Scottish Open, a co-sanctioned event between the PGA and DP World Tour. Players will be using this week as a tune-up for the Open Championship due to the links-style feel of the Renaissance Club. Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy have won the event in the past two years, showcasing the impact of wind conditions on the course. The Renaissance Club, a Tom Doak design, has proven to be a great host venue for tournament golf and will see the return of former champions Schauffele and McIlroy, along with other top challengers.

In the $10,000 range, Xander Schauffele is a strong play at the Renaissance Club due to his power off the tee and elite lag putting skills. On the other hand, Collin Morikawa may not be the best fit for the course, as his game excels on more accuracy-based tests. Moving down to the $9,000 range, Viktor Hovland is highlighted as a player to watch, with his strong performances on links-style courses and recent form. Hideki Matsuyama, on the other hand, may struggle on the course due to his lack of being a bomber off the tee.

In the $8,000 range, Wyndham Clark stands out as a solid play with his power off the tee and previous top-25 finishes at the Renaissance Club. Sungjae Im, however, may not be the best fit for the course based on his links resume. In the $7,000 range, Robert MacIntyre is a player to consider for his success on links golf courses, while Si Woo Kim may struggle due to the course layout. A flier pick in this range is Erik Van Rooyen, who possesses the skills needed for success at the Scottish Open.

Looking at the $6,000 range, Nicolai Hojgaard stands out as a player with upside at a lower price tag, given his previous success at the Renaissance Club. Overall, the Genesis Scottish Open presents a unique challenge for players with its links-style feel, emphasizing power off the tee and strong putting skills. With a strong field of contenders, including past champions and rising stars, the event is sure to provide an exciting lead-up to the Open Championship.
