Tyrrell Hatton’s victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic was described as a “dream come true” by the Ryder Cup star. Hatton, who went into the final round one shot behind New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, shot a three-under-par 69 to claim a record-equalling fifth Rolex Series title with a 15-under total. He finished one shot ahead of Hillier and two shots clear of Englishman Laurie Canter.

Hatton expressed his joy at winning the iconic event, stating that adding his name to the list of champions was a dream come true for him. Despite feeling nervous on the back nine, Hatton managed to hold on to secure the victory. He mentioned being scruffy on the last hole but was thrilled to see his putt go in and secure the win.

The final round saw Hatton and Hillier battling it out for the lead, with Hatton drawing level early on before falling behind again. However, he regained the lead at the fifth hole and maintained his position at the top of the leaderboard. The crucial moment came at the 16th hole when Hatton’s excellent wedge approach set up a tap-in birdie, giving him a two-shot lead.

Despite a few jitters on the 18th hole, Hatton managed to convert a five-footer for par to avoid a playoff with Hillier, who made a nine-footer for birdie. Rory McIlroy also had a strong finish, shooting a 66 to finish tied for fourth at 12 under. This was McIlroy’s 11th consecutive top-10 finish in the event, a streak that dates back to his victory in 2009.

Hatton’s victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic was a significant achievement in his career, adding to his impressive record in the Rolex Series events. His performance under pressure on the back nine and his clutch putt on the 18th hole demonstrated his ability to handle tense situations on the golf course. With this win, Hatton solidified his status as one of the top players on the DP World Tour and further cemented his place among the elite champions of the sport.

Overall, Hatton’s victory at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic was a memorable and hard-fought triumph that will be remembered as a milestone in his career. His composure under pressure and ability to deliver when it mattered most were key factors in securing the win. As he adds this prestigious event to his list of accomplishments, Hatton will continue to build on his success and strive for further victories on the international golfing stage.
