Which Amateur Golfer Shined Brightest as Player of the Year?

In 2024, Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda dominated in the men’s and women’s professional golf circuits, claiming a total of 16 titles between them. While they received Player of the Year honors for their performance, the year also saw an outstanding display in the amateur game. Various amateur golfers made history with their remarkable performances, such as Nick Dunlap becoming the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour since 1991, Neal Shipley securing low amateur honors at the Masters and US Open, and Lottie Woad finishing as the women’s World No.1 amateur after winning the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

Clanton, with his impressive college wins and strong performance in PGA Tour events, showcased remarkable consistency throughout the season. However, Dunlap’s achievements and impact on the professional circuit ultimately led to his recognition as the top amateur golfer of the year.

The next generation of golfers coming through the ranks is extremely strong, as evidenced by the incredible talent and achievements of the nominees for the Amateur of the Year award. Players like Lottie Woad, Jasmine Koo, Nick Dunlap, and Luke Clanton have shown immense potential and promise for successful careers in golf. While Shipley’s historic win at the Masters and US Open set him apart, Woad’s exceptional performances at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, AIG Women’s Open, and collegiate events earned her the title of Amateur of the Year.
