Hampshire’s Liz Young emerged victorious at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, securing her second Ladies European Tour title after a dramatic final round battle with Belgium’s Manon De Roey. Trailing De Roey by one shot heading into the last day of competition, Young stayed patient and made a crucial birdie on the 15th hole to close the gap. The turning point came on the treacherous 17th hole when De Roey dropped a shot, giving Young the lead going into the final hole.

As the tension mounted, Young faced last hole drama when her third shot landed in the water, seemingly setting the stage for a playoff. However, a fantastic wedge shot from the drop zone allowed her to salvage a bogey and clinch a one-stroke victory with a closing level-par 72. This win marked Young’s second LET title, with her first victory coming at the Swiss Ladies Open in 2022. Reflecting on her win, Young expressed her shock and gratitude, emphasizing the significance of securing a win as a professional golfer.

Despite the competitive nature of the final round, Young praised her friend and competitor De Roey, acknowledging the tough battle they had throughout the day. Young credited her success to her putting, highlighting the role of her caddie in reading the greens effectively. Following her victory, Young rose to 12th on the LET Order of Merit, solidifying her position among the top players on the tour. The win at the Hero Women’s Indian Open cements Young’s status as a formidable player on the Ladies European Tour.

Young’s victory at the Hero Women’s Indian Open showcases her resilience and skill on the golf course, highlighting her ability to navigate challenging situations and emerge victorious. The tournament victory adds to Young’s growing list of career accomplishments and solidifies her position as a competitive force within the sport. Young’s performance at the event demonstrates her dedication to her craft and her ability to rise to the occasion in high-pressure situations.

As Young reflects on her win at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, she credits her mental fortitude and strategic approach to the game as key factors in her success. By staying focused and making crucial shots when it mattered most, Young was able to outplay her competitors and secure the tournament victory. With this win, Young not only adds to her professional accolades but also sets the stage for future success on the Ladies European Tour, signaling her potential to continue climbing the rankings and achieving even greater milestones in the sport.
