The PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup playoffs are coming to an end, and the focus will soon shift to the Presidents Cup, where the International team will be looking to defeat the United States team for the first time since 1998 at Royal Melbourne. This year, the event will take place at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Each team will consist of six automatic qualifiers and six captain’s picks, giving captains Jim Furyk of the United States and Canadian Mike Weir of the International team the flexibility to shape their teams as they see fit.

For the United States team, the top six automatic qualifiers based on FedEx Cup points are Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, and Sahith Theegala. Vincenzi’s captain’s picks for the United States team include Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Russell Henley, Akshay Bhatia, and Billy Horschel. These picks were based on factors such as recent performances, match play experience, and strategic fit for the team.

On the International team, the top six automatic qualifiers based on the Official World Golf Rankings are Hideki Matsuyama, Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Jason Day, Adam Scott, and Byeong Hun An. Vincenzi’s captain’s picks for the International team include Corey Conners, Min Woo Lee, Cameron Davis, Taylor Pendrith, Si Woo Kim, and Jhonnatan Vegas. These picks were made with the goal of assembling a well-rounded team that can challenge the United States team on home soil and capitalize on the strengths of each player.

Notable players who missed out on a spot on the Presidents Cup teams include Justin Thomas, Nick Dunlap, Max Homa, Cameron Young, Brian Harman for the United States team, and Adam Hadwin, Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Erik Van Rooyen, Emiliano Grillo, Ryan Fox for the International team. While these players had strong performances throughout the season, the captain’s picks were based on a combination of factors such as recent form, match play experience, and strategic fit for the team.

The Presidents Cup is set to be an exciting event with both teams featuring a mix of experienced veterans and young talents. The selection of captain’s picks adds an element of unpredictability to the competition, as fans eagerly anticipate seeing how the chosen players perform on the international stage. With the event taking place in Canada, the International team will have the home advantage and will look to make history by defeating the United States team for the first time in over two decades. Golf fans around the world are eagerly awaiting the start of the Presidents Cup to witness the fierce competition and camaraderie that define this prestigious event.
