Hannah Green emerged victorious at the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea after holding off a sensational finishing burst from Celine Boutier. Boutier birdied five of the last seven holes to complete a six-under-par 66 in the final round, setting the clubhouse target at 18 under. Green was on the same mark with two holes to play and needed to find inspiration after two birdies and two bogeys had left her tied with Boutier. The Australian star hit a superb approach at the par-four 17th and rolled in a five-footer for the winning birdie. Despite some challenges, Green clinched victory with a closing 71, earning her third LPGA Tour win of the season and a $330,000 cheque.

Green’s first win of the season was achieved in the far east at the HSBC Women’s World Championship in March. Boutier, who finished runner-up in that event, also put up an impressive fight at the BMW Ladies Championship. Starting the final round six shots back, Boutier threw everything at her rival over the closing stretch and finished just one shot off the lead, earning $207,516 for second place. Before Boutier’s late charge, Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand looked like a potential threat to Green’s wire-to-wire success. Wannasaen lit up the front nine with a 30, including an eagle on the fifth, but stalled on the back nine to finish third on 17 under with a closing 68.

Korean golfers Hye-Jin Choi and Yu Jin Sung shared fourth place, with Haeran Ryu and Ashleigh Buhai finishing joint sixth. The tournament was marred by slow play, with the final few groups taking a painful six and a quarter hours to complete their rounds in three-balls. Green’s victory at the BMW Ladies Championship solidified her position as the world No. 8 and added to her impressive resume of wins on the LPGA Tour. With her skill, determination, and composure under pressure, Green showcased her ability to rise to the occasion and secure a hard-fought victory.

Golf fans and enthusiasts can look forward to more thrilling performances from Green and Boutier in future tournaments, as both players have demonstrated their talent and competitiveness on the LPGA Tour. The BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea provided a captivating and exciting spectacle for spectators, with the drama unfolding down to the last few holes. Despite the challenges of slow play affecting the pace of the final round, the quality of golf on display was exceptional, with players showcasing their skills and resilience in a competitive field.

As the LPGA Tour continues to attract top talent from around the world, events like the BMW Ladies Championship serve as a platform for players to showcase their abilities and compete at the highest level. The tournament highlighted the depth of talent in women’s golf and the fierce competition among the leading players on the tour. With Green’s victory and Boutier’s impressive performance, the tournament provided a compelling narrative of skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Golf enthusiasts can look forward to more exciting events on the LPGA Tour as the season progresses and the race for titles and accolades heats up.
