Harris English’s victory at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open was a long time coming, as he had previously come close to winning at Torrey Pines. At 35 years old, English had held the 54-hole lead at Torrey Pines in 2015 but ultimately lost in a playoff. He had also finished third at the 2021 U.S. Open at the same course. However, on this particular Saturday, English was able to seal the deal and secure his first win since 2021. Despite a shaky start to the final round with early bogeys, English was able to steady himself and hold off the competition, including a late charge from Sam Stevens who finished just one shot behind him at 7-under. English’s ability to scramble and putt well, despite not hitting many fairways or greens in regulation, showcased his resilience and determination to win.

English’s victory was a testament to his perseverance and love for the game of golf. After 14 years on the PGA Tour, English understands the grind and difficulty of winning at the highest level. He expressed his respect for the game and his fellow players, acknowledging the mental and emotional challenges that come with competing at a professional level. English’s calm demeanor on the course belied the internal struggle and intensity of his emotions during the competition. He acknowledged the hard conditions and setups at Torrey Pines, stating that he thrives in those challenging environments. English’s ability to stay focused, make strategic decisions, and grind out a win on a tough course like Torrey Pines highlighted his skill and determination as a golfer.

English’s victory at the Farmers Insurance Open was a significant milestone in his career, marking his fifth win on the PGA Tour. Despite facing setbacks and near misses in the past, English never lost faith in his ability to win at Torrey Pines. His strategic approach to the course, along with the support of his caddie Eric Larson, helped him navigate the challenges and stay in contention throughout the tournament. English’s ability to stay patient, make smart decisions, and execute under pressure ultimately led to his success. As he reflected on his win, English emphasized the joy and satisfaction of overcoming the obstacles and achieving victory on a course that he holds in high regard.

For English, the journey to victory at the Farmers Insurance Open was a culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and resilience. Despite facing adversity and tough competition, he never wavered in his belief that he could win on one of his favorite courses on the PGA Tour. English’s ability to stay focused, stay calm under pressure, and execute when it mattered most showcased his mental toughness and competitive spirit. As he celebrated his win and reflected on the challenges he had overcome, English remained humble and grateful for the opportunity to compete at the highest level of professional golf. His success at the Farmers Insurance Open serves as a reminder of the rewards that come with perseverance, hard work, and a never-say-die attitude in the face of adversity.
