Jessica Korda Returns to Golf: A New Chapter in Her Career

For the first time in over two and a half years, LPGA star Jessica Korda is stepping back onto the golf course. This significant return comes as she competes in the Grant Thornton Invitational, a mixed-team event held at Tiburon Golf Club, near her South Florida home. As Korda prepares for her tee time, the anticipation surrounding her comeback showcases the excitement from fans and fellow players alike. This tournament, featuring a total purse of $4 million, is one of the few mixed competitions in professional golf where both PGA and LPGA players can join forces.

In a lighthearted moment, Korda, 32, humorously shared how she approached longtime family friend Bud Cauley to partner with her for this event, saying, “I proposed to Bud like four months ago.” Their team joins a select group of 16 pairs competing this week, illustrating the uniqueness of the Grant Thornton Invitational. Not only does this tournament promote camaraderie between male and female golfers, but it also emphasizes the growing trend of collaboration in the sport.

Korda’s return to competitive golf follows an extended break due to a back injury sustained before her pregnancy. The six-time LPGA winner welcomed her first child, Greyson, in early 2023. Her last official tournament appearance was in May of that year at the Cognizant Founders Cup, where she withdrew after the first round. Nevertheless, Korda remained engaged in the golfing community through media collaborations and supporting her younger sister, Nelly Korda, at various events.

This week marks a particularly emotional event not just for Jessica but also for Nelly Korda, who is teaming up with PGA Tour player Denny McCarthy. Nelly expressed her excitement for Jessica’s return, saying, "We played our first practice round (on Tuesday) in a couple of years. It’s so nice." Their genuine sibling connection adds an endearing element to the tournament, emphasizing the significance of family ties within the professional sports world.

As she gears up to compete, Jessica Korda shared her thoughts about motherhood and its impact on her golf career. While she relished the experience of being a mom, she does not plan to return to the LPGA full-time just yet. Korda mentioned that if she does rejoin the tour at some point in the near future, it wouldn’t be until around mid-March 2026. Her current focus is bringing balance to her life as a mom and a professional athlete, showcasing the challenges working parents often face.

Speaking candidly about her journey, Korda revealed that managing time has become more chaotic since becoming a mother. "Now, just like managing him and also then trying to get ready for me," she explained. “I’m on a foam roller, and he’s half on top of me or balls are flying at my face. It’s a little bit more chaotic than it was before; but honestly, it’s way more fun.” This perspective reflects her dedication to both family and golf, highlighting the shifts many athletes experience after significant life changes.

The anticipation surrounding Korda’s return is not just a personal milestone but a broader commentary on the evolving landscape of women in sports, particularly in golf. Her story resonates with many, as it underscores the balancing act of pursuing professional ambitions while navigating the responsibilities of motherhood. As more athletes share their experiences, it contributes to a growing dialogue about female empowerment and representation in sports.

The Grant Thornton Invitational is not just about competition; it is an event highlighting collaboration, familial support, and personal growth. With rising anticipation, Korda’s comeback epitomizes resilience and the spirit of community that lies at the heart of professional golf. Fans and fellow competitors are eager to see how she performs and, more importantly, how she embraces this new phase of her life.

In conclusion, Jessica Korda’s participation in the Grant Thornton Invitational marks a significant chapter in her career and life journey. As one of the premier athletes returning to the LPGA, Korda’s experiences as a mother have only enriched her perspective as a golfer. Her story serves as an inspiration—as she balances the roles of athlete and mom—and speaks to the heart of sportsmanship. The forthcoming tournament isn’t merely a return to form for Korda but also a reflection of the evolving nature of golf itself, encouraging collaborations and celebrating women in the sport.

As she takes the course, all eyes will be on Jessica Korda. Fans, fellow athletes, and family alike will be cheering for her not only to perform well but to enjoy the thrills of competition once more. After all, in the high-stakes world of professional golf, it’s equally about making pivotal moments as it is about finding joy in the game.
