Former NFL cornerback Patrick Peterson has had the chance to play Augusta National four times, with his most memorable round being his first when he shot a 74 and made six birdies. In a recent interview on the GOLF Subpar podcast, Peterson discussed his experiences at Augusta, along with his favorite golf courses, rounds with his friend Larry Fitzgerald, and the best college football atmospheres. Playing with Fitzgerald at Augusta, Peterson highlighted the memorable moments and the challenges they faced on the course.

During his first round at Augusta, Peterson opened with birdies on the first two holes but struggled with doubles on the third and fourth holes. However, he was able to settle down and finish with a strong round. One of the most memorable moments for Peterson was on the par-4 7th hole, where Fitzgerald nearly drove onto the green but ended up in the rough. Peterson, on the other hand, found the fairway, wedged on, and made a birdie. Despite the tricky back-left pin location, Fitzgerald had difficulty navigating the green, resulting in a bogey for him and a birdie for Peterson.

After their round at Augusta, Peterson and Fitzgerald enjoyed dinner at the club, where members kept approaching Fitzgerald about his near drive on the 7th hole. Despite the accolades, Fitzgerald had to admit to his fellow members that he had actually scored a bogey on the hole, much to the amusement of everyone present. The experience at Augusta was a memorable one for both Peterson and Fitzgerald, showcasing the challenges and highlights of playing at such a prestigious course.

In the interview, Peterson also shared his favorite golf courses that he has had the opportunity to play, many of which are located internationally. For Peterson, golf is not just a recreational activity but a passion that allows him to explore different courses and challenges around the world. Along with his love for golf, Peterson also discussed his experiences playing college football and the intense atmospheres that come with it, showcasing his diverse athletic interests and experiences.

Overall, Peterson’s experiences at Augusta National and his passion for golf are evident in his interviews and interactions, highlighting the unique opportunities and challenges that come with playing at prestigious courses like Augusta. His rounds with Fitzgerald and other friends have provided him with memorable moments and experiences, showcasing the camaraderie and competitiveness that come with the sport of golf. With his continued success on and off the football field, Peterson’s love for golf continues to be a driving force in his life, allowing him to explore new courses and challenges while creating lasting memories with friends and fellow athletes.
