Marco Penge: Rising Star on the PGA Tour in 2026

Marco Penge is one of the most thrilling newcomers on the PGA Tour this season. The 27-year-old English golfer earned his PGA Tour card in 2025 through impressive performances on the DP World Tour. As a result, he will compete in some of the year’s most prestigious tournaments.

Penge made headlines by winning the Spanish Open, which secured his qualifications for both The Open Championship and The Masters—two of the sport’s biggest events. His ability to compete at Augusta National and Royal Birkdale will be a significant test of his golfing prowess.

Despite his slender frame, Penge features an impressive long-hitting style comparable to that of Rory McIlroy. Among the courses he’s eager to take on this season, Quail Hollow stands out as an ideal fit for his game.

Why Quail Hollow is Perfect for Marco Penge

While Penge is gearing up to play at both Augusta National and TPC Sawgrass this year, it’s Quail Hollow, the host of the 2025 PGA Championship, that he believes will best compliment his strengths. Traditionally, this course rewards long hitters, making it a perfect match for Penge’s game.

In a recent press conference before the Farmers Insurance Open, Penge expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season. “Every week I’m looking forward to playing in The Players, and obviously I’ve qualified for The Masters; that will be cool,” he stated.

He continued, “I’m excited to hopefully return to Quail Hollow. I played the PGA there last year, and I really liked that course. It felt like it suited my game well.”

Penge’s excitement extends to his initial four PGA Tour events, which will take place at iconic venues: Torrey Pines, TPC Scottsdale, Pebble Beach, and Riviera. However, the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow is the one he eagerly anticipates.

Marco Penge’s Performance at Quail Hollow

Penge’s only appearance at Quail Hollow was during the previous year’s PGA Championship. In his debut, he achieved a commendable T28 finish, concluding the tournament at 1-under par, introducing himself to the golfing community in impressive fashion.

To return to Quail Hollow in 2026, Penge will need to qualify for the Truist Championship, an important Signature Event. His 2025 season on the DP World Tour was outstanding, earning him a full PGA Tour card due to three significant victories, including the remarkable triumph at the Spanish Open, which qualified him for The Masters and The Open.

Upcoming Events

In addition to participating in The Players Championship and Pebble Beach, Penge is currently positioned at 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings. This ranking puts him in an advantageous spot for qualifying for more Signature Events.

Though he was forced to withdraw from the Sony Open due to a viral illness, Penge has since recovered and is eager to make his mark. If he capitalizes on the opportunities presented by the early-season schedule, he could very well shine at Quail Hollow once more.

Marco Penge’s journey in professional golf promises to be exciting, and fans can’t wait to see how this rising star performs on the PGA Tour in 2026.
